ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with Water for Elephants? I think I am the only person on earth who can't read Jonathan Safron Foer. I have tried two or three of his books, and can't make any progress.
ReplyDeleteAgree with Ian McEwan, and good advice on Middlesex. I badly wanted to read it, but also wanted to shoot myself in the head during the first few chapters and I gave up. Have you read a Confederacy of Dunces? I feel like you might like it. Zeitoun by Eggers is also good.
That is enough from me.
If you haven't already, check out The Poisonwood Bible. I thought it was so good that everything I have read since just fell flat. Literally the best thing I've read in the past 5 years. Its probably a bit of a chick book, though...
